Boy Scout National Jamboree Before The Trip

About 2 years ago my daughter was asked if she wanted to attend the Boy Scout National Jamboree in 2017.  She excitedly said yes.  For a few months we started raising money.  We did pulled pork sandwiches and popcorn sales. They sent in the application for the troop and it was denied due to not enough adult chaperones.  We had only 2 weeks to find an adult who was already registered with the BSA.  Well that was me!  So now I lost my chance at some of the fundraising and had to submit my $260 with the application.  Well I did a mini BBQ plate lunch fundraiser and got my 1st fee completed.

Then the second obstacle was with losing weight.  Something I had already started doing.  I had lost 20 pounds and was starving and such.  To go on this trip I had to have a BMI of 29, I had to loose 40 more pounds.  I tweaked dieting and began a rigorous exercise regime.  I had to do a physical in April 2017.   I took a cleanser, ate very little and drank some mineral oil for several days before my physical.  I made my weight by 1 pound.

Here I am about to go and work issues made things difficult.  These had to be completed before I leave.  Letters to be written, inspections to perform and meeting to attend.  I worked late nights at home and worked overtime to complete these work obstacles.  I even went inspect a store in Richland, LA during Tropical Storm Cindy.  Then it rained and rained and rained for weeks.  I even have 3 acres of grass to cut before I leave.  Sunday before leaving I got a small window to get the grass cut and I did it.  Except around the house I had too many chores to complete before I leave.  One was an appliance delivery for the kitchen.  So i didn't cut the grass around the house so the grass didn't get brought into the house.  After that delivery it rained and rained and rained.  The evening before we left I got home just in time to cut around the house with the lightning striking near by.

One by one I got my chores done.  We got the shopping done needed for the trip.  We stayed up till late in the night and packed.

I am so nervous for this trip.  I have chaperoned many kids in my lifetime.  But never have I been in charge of so many kids for 17 days!  We will be traveling to DC for a few days before attending Jambo.  My mind is continually thinking of items I may need and I keep adding more items to my to do list.  All week I had to work.  Tomorrow is not different, included with a trip to Marksville to inspect a store.  Oh my my my.........

Below is a small collection of photos of what we have done to get here.
